I think it's the ultimate material - hard case have cracked o nme in the past and the material ones can get gross. I like the shelves inside but put them down for my recent trip. East to roll and get in the car. I did notice that the sticker they put on luggage is hard to remove but I'm not too fussed about that.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Discerning Traveller from Very Disappointed DO NOT BUY THIS BAG! I bought this bag and have been incredibly disappointed. First of all- it is not how it looks in the photo. It looks like a giant piece of pleather- not smart like the weekend Lipault bags. It is very poorly made. Within a week of purchasing the bag I took it on trip and rubber coating on the front snagged an ripped. I can't use the bag, unless I want to risk my items getting wet or damaged from where the rip is. Plus, it looks ever more tacky than before. I immediately showed the airline, and they said it was material of the bag that isn't very strong. I contacted Lipault Customer Service. After a series of email exchanges with Lipault that consist of Lipault is blaming the airline, I've been offered the opportunity go online, fill in a series of forms, pack up my ripped bag, and send it to an independent assessor. What a total hassle. I've flown many times and never had a bag rip like the Lipault Lost in Berlin bag. In addition, I was travelling with other soft luggage bags on the same trip and none of those bags were damaged. When I pay over this amount for a bag, I expect to be able to use it more than one trip. If not, I expect the brand to make it easy to replace or refund the bag. Instead, I'm spending loads of time, emailing back and forth, while Lipault doesn't want to stand by their product and take the easy road of blaming the airline. What a pain.... If you want a bag that you can trust and company that stands by the product without making you jump through hoops-DO NOT BUY THIS BAG.
